What is Growing Together?

Growing Together is a monthly parenting workshop series at Little Village Play Cafe, 6505 W North Ave in Wauwatosa, WI, offered in partnership with Tosa Pediatrics. Workshops are on select Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30pm and cost $20 per person or $35 per couple, with free childcare on site.

Now in its second year, every workshop is therapist-led, with pediatricians, child psychologists & specialists from Tosa Pediatrics joining in, and built around one real-life parenting challenge: big feelings, ADHD, screens & more. You'll leave with practical, evidence-based tools you can use that night, a clearer picture of what's going on in your kid's brain & the reassurance that comes from a room full of parents nodding along.

If you've been searching for parenting classes in Wauwatosa, a parenting workshop near Milwaukee, or help with tantrums, ADHD or screen time from someone who actually does this for a living, this is it.

Big Feelings

For parents of 3 to 12 year olds · last year's most packed workshop

I Think My Kid Might Have ADHD

For parents of kids 4 & up

Wondering if it's ADHD, what it looks like at home & school, or what to even do next? This approachable workshop helps you understand your kid's brain, advocate for their needs & shift from "why won't they just do it" to "what do they need to thrive."

Kids & Screens

For parents of kids 2 & up

Screens are part of childhood, & parenting around them feels different at every age. Learn age-appropriate limits from toddlers to teens, how to reset expectations that already exist & how to find a balance that actually works for your family (screens & all).

What to expect

How a workshop night works

Low-key, practical & over in an hour. No homework, no judgment, no lecture hall.

Arrive & drop off

Come a few minutes early, check the kids into childcare & grab a drink from the cafe.

The workshop

60 focused minutes on 1 topic: what's really going on, what the research says & what to actually do.

Ask your real questions

Bring the specific stuff you're stuck on & ask away. Don't worry, you're not alone. Odds are another parent in the room is wondering the exact same thing.

Tools to take home

Leave with a handful of strategies you can try that same week, not a 40-page packet.

Other parents

A room full of people dealing with the same stuff. You'll swap stories & probably a phone number.

Pick up & head home

Collect a happily played-out kid & go home a little calmer than you arrived.

Who Growing Together is for

  • Parents of toddlers thru tweens who want real tools, not just reassurance (but also reassurance)
  • Couples who want to get on the same page about boundaries, screens or a possible diagnosis
  • Parents wondering "is this normal?" about big feelings, focus or behavior
  • Families who'd rather learn from a therapist in a cozy cafe than a clinic
  • Grandparents, step-parents & caregivers in the daily mix
  • Anyone who needs to hear "you're not in this alone" out loud

Why parents come back

Expert advice without the waitlist

Getting an hour with a pediatric therapist usually means a referral & a wait. Here it's $20, a Monday night & a cozy cafe instead of a waiting room. You'll get the same evidence-based thinking, in a room built for questions.

A night out that actually helps

Free childcare means you can both come. Bring your partner, sit next to other parents in the thick of it & leave with something to try tomorrow. It counts as a date night. We checked.

How much does a workshop cost?

$20 per person or $35 per couple, per workshop. Childcare is free.

Is childcare really free?

Yes! Our team hosts the kids in the play space while you're in the workshop, at no cost. When you register, just select free childcare on the form so we can plan for your crew.

Do I have to come to all 3?

Nope. Each workshop stands on its own, so come to the one that fits your family or all 3. Lots of parents sign up for one & end up back for the rest.

Who leads the workshops?

Caroline Burnett, a pediatric & family therapist with Tosa Pediatrics Therapies with 20 years of experience in autism, ADHD & infant mental health, leads the series. Pediatricians, child psychologists & specialists from Tosa Pediatrics join depending on the topic.

Can I come alone, or does it have to be a couple?

Either! Solo parents are very welcome (and very common). The $35 couple rate is just a little thank-you for bringing your partner or co-parent along.

Is this therapy?

No. Growing Together is education & community, not a therapy session. If a workshop makes you think your family would benefit from more, Caroline is happy to point you toward next steps.

Do I need to be a Little Village member?

No. Workshops are open to everyone. Members get the same price.

What if I need to cancel?

Workshop tickets are non-refundable, but we're happy to transfer you to a later date. Email hello@thelittlevillageplaycafe.com.
